RC35. My Memory Having RC Car. My No 3/4/5/6/7/ DIY project.

My no 3 DIY. 
Most of us have a problem it tuning engine, some time the reading is 3 1/2 turn after we have the manufacture tuning and  running the engine, then we must lean down or reach up the needle so that your RC vehicle will get the maximum power. Most of engine didn't have the reading of  how much to Lean or rich we only use our eye to turn it. In the market there is a  turning dials but in Malaysia i did't see it sale in RC Shop. So what i did, i DIY my self this in a simple turning dials.

From the side View

There a 2 type of reading that i get from Net, i  photocopy it and use plastic tape to tape it so that the paper will not damage easy.

This reading is  0 to 9 center diameter is small

This reading also 0 to 9 center diameter is big

The second reading 0 to 5 Rich seating and 0 to 5 Lean seating.

Cut it out

The Base you can use a sponge (Black) or a hard rubber (Red)

Top of the sponge cut a same size as the dials diameter and Glue on it

Cut the sponge to the height u want

For the rubber base Glue the dials on it

Same mated but the base is other soft material

Attach the sponge on the High speed needle housing

Turn the high speed needle to full close position and if can mark with white paint or file the edge show the starting point use and attach the DIY dials, ensure in 0 reading with the needle edge , on the needle housing glue it so it will not move

Turn the needle to the rich side according to manufacture position 3.5 turn.

Know u can tune the engine easily

My no 4 DIY
Some time when we need to open the flywheel, it difficult the piston will turn. To do that in market the is a gadget call engine stoper, it jamup the piston from moving when open the flywheel. Some companies made the material from aluminium and it costly. I thing this stoper seldom use so don't want buy new. I came out with a idea to make 2 type of engine stoper, one for Normal plug and second Turbo plug. I am using the scrape parts i have.

1. One Dummy plastick spark plug.
2. One big or small size Rivet.
3. 1 damage glow plug. (Normal or turbo)
4. Super Glue.

This the engine stoper that sale in market. It look nice.

The item  Dummy spark plug, Rivet and damage Glow plug. 

Under need the dummy spark plug is a round hold.

Originally the glow plug can't fit in the dummy spark plug. 

Touch the glow plug until hot then press into the plastic dummy spark plug. 

When the shape form on the plastic dummy spark plug, remove the glow plug let it cool before superglue.

The rivet, find the size same as the glow plug. Remove the aluminium rivet, need only the center core with mushroom head.

Top is 3mm bottom is 2.5mm

Measure the length of the piston on bottom death centre (BDC). Cut the rivet center core and hammer it into the Glow plug before add some superglue.

Glue to the dummy spark plug. 

Done, now we can open the flywheel easily. 

To make it more easier don't use the dummy spark plug, find a T handle with 8mm socket.

My No 5 DIY.
A Glow plug box. To keep the glow plug we need some box. Market came out a glow plug organizer. Like a key chan, only 5 pcs on it. My DIY can put many glow plug from Nornal to Turbo together. Very simple DIY. Thing to have

1. A soft wooden Box

Aluminium make, look nice. This for only Normal glow plug. 

A wooden box. I bought it new for Rm3. The original purpose of this box i don't know. The wood using is soft type.

The lock

Open box. The top cover original is flat surface. The hold later i drill it. Bottom hold already done.

On top, have two size of hold. same as bottom.

The top line is for Normal Glow Plug. I use a damage glow plug and press on the soft wood to create the pattern of the glow plug. At top cover i drill a hold so it can hold the glow plug in place.

The bottom hole is for Turbo Glow Plug. 

The big hole is to put the glow plug washer. You can cut a round sponge to cover it.

If we have more Glow Plug, we can drill few more hole

This my no 6 DIY. 

Making engine mounting from aluminium bar. Found this few aluminium bar, buy for Rm2 each. This bar i thing for circuit board as a stand. This bar almost same high as original engine stand from kyosho, thunder tiger, serpent. Now only cut the length needed then drill hole top bottom and tap it. Buy out side some time it course Rm30 to Rm40. Now i can do as much as i want. To cut the bar i just use hand power and metal saw. I make it for my Thunder Tiger DT10.

I buy 4 pcs. A pcs Rm2. If u can get it in electronic shop may be expensive. I buy at a reject shop in seremban.

Top have 2 screw hole, but i will drill one more, side nothing, bottom also no screw hole need to drill and tap

I measure the length not according with the original mounting. The rhs is for Thunder Tiger TS4N. But my DT10 didn't have hard to buy in Malaysia. 

I use hand to cut it. I will do it show. If machine cut more stright.

Done it take me 4 days to finish it. All use hand to cut, failing, measurment, drill ,tap. Is a hard DIY.

Some area need to gring and failing. To make it smooth and smaller so it can mounted to the engine

Nicely fit to Thunder Tiger Engine.

Made for my Thunder Tiger DT10. Next buy a second hand Engine.

This my no 7 DIY 

A lipo battery cable. When i buy a lipo battery without the cable, need buy separately for Rm20 on 2010. Because i only have one special lipo battery so no need to buy extra. Recently 2020 see in Shoopee the sale the banana plug size 4 and 2 inch and the charging jct plug for lipo battery cable. Order the Jct connector buy for Rm5.67, banana plug from Rm6 to Rm7. For the wire i buy loose from a reject shop.

Some of the parts needed to DIY the lipo battery cable. 

The lhs i buy for Rm20, middle i diy from damage lipo battery that some one throw away, i just cut off the wire and diy. The third all parts i buy from Shoopee. 

JST socket and pin buy for Rm5.00++ cheap. If buy from electronic shop may be expensive they will sale a pcs.

From lhs Dean plug, 2mm banana plug and 4mm banana plug, each parts under Rm10 for 10pcs

For the wire i buy the loose automobile wire from reject shop. Each for Rm2. 

Done save course. Shop sale for Rm18 to rm20. 

My 8 DIY project.  

Is a magnetic holder for screw, market thare is few magnetic tray made with aluminium. To save course i DiY but using non rust ion bowl. 

Thing to have.

1. A small bowl depant on users. RM3

2. Speaker magnet, best is car specker big.

3. Dumlop glue 

4. Aluminium tin foil

This a metal bowl rm5.50 buy in Daising.

A specker magnet size according to the bowl.

Put the bowl at center of the magnets and glue it.

Cut a pcs of thin aluminium foil and wrap the magnet.

Done wrapping 

Now ur screw will not gone missing.

Fail safe is a small device to low battery warning. When remort lost signal or low battery this device will activate the break in nitro car, for electric rc it will ensure system in neutral position. Old days when using AM, FM receiver is recomended to use this mini fail safe. New remort 2.4 already build in to the receiver it self firstly when fitted new receiver it need to program the fail safe. It still can fix in the 2.4 receiver.

Bought this item for my old rc car that use Am frequency. No more using in New 2.4. 

I will show how to  program it.

1. On the Remort

2. Power on the receiver 

3. Press the remote trigger in full brake positions hold on

4. The servo arm is in full brake position

5. On the receiver beside the red light thare is a setting button,  press the button, the red light will blink, wait until stop blinking it mean setting done. 

6. To test it function, press full acc on remort triggers then off the power on the remote, in few second the servo horn will in full brake position.

For setting on a EP RC. More easy, on power on remort and receiver do not press the remote triangle. On receiver press the setting button until red light no more blinking, done. To test it, same press the remote trigger to forward or reverse hold it then off the remote, u can see the servo horn will go back in neutral mode.
