To run a GP Car we need a Nitro Engine. How about EP RC. The main component ESC Electronic Speed Control to run two type of motor, Brush and Brushless. In early days around 1980 their using manual esc were control by servo. But the problem is when the battery weak the servo can't go back to 0 position. It stuck whare the last position. It keep power to the motor until battery flat. I have that experience when i try to use it, it need full power every time, alert all the time after few lap or long play.
Below i will show what type of ESC i am using when i first play with EP RC Tamiya TB01. Some i not sure what the specification. All my mostly for brush motor, never use brushless before soon

Buy new No 1. Brush ESC Rm249, Moped VR16 Digital ESC but powerful. This units damage due to i play under the rain. Once water go in smoke come out. Haaaaa dam my money fly away.

My No 2 and 4 is HĹ 320A brush ESC. Motor 15T above. The first units buy for Rm75, On 29/10/2009. Play until damage. The second buy for Rm80 on 20/8/2010 still function.

My no 3 and 9 units. Next buy another units brush ESC TP-M8 for Rm90 in 2/5/2010. Same run until damage. This time i use Lipo battery 7.4v. Started nice very fast then i hard break at corner, suddenly not function anymore. Go back and check, all the led meltdown, the ic out of position. I didn't have the heater gun for it.
The second unit already damage from shop when i buy the RC parts in big bunch year 2018.

My no 6 units brush ESC. To buy HL or HL ESC getting difficult, In market came out more advanced ESC can use Nimh or Lipo battery. Most HSP RC from 2018 until now using it.
On 5/4/2013 i buy for Rm50. No branding only use Nimh battery. The slot that can change using Nimh or Lipo is thare but no pin. All water seal.

My no 11 Units brush ESC. LRP IPC V5.1 GENERATION + No 83730 ESC. Over 8 turn German Technology. Buy for Rm50. Ori price from shop RM399. This LRP esc i buy very cheap, the shop have 3 units, different range old stock. I took all each RM50 Only use Nimh battery.
Tasted in my HSP Brontosaurus 2 wooooo the power is thare, but no reverse. That the problem, truck, buggy, rally, rock crawler need reverse. It suitable for on road RC.

My 14 units is a Brushless ESC. Brand ROHS, 60A-SL, Buy for Rm2 at a reject shop on 00/2/2020. From lazada Rm35. Go back and test after plug in using 7.2 Nimh battery smoke come out when switch is on, then remove parts, found 2 ic already burn early. Can't repair. But i just take the usable parts. It cheap anywhere.

This my 15 brush ESC. i buy from China threw Shoopee. From RoHc, BDESC-S10E-RTR, WATERPROOF, Can take 5-9 Nimh and 2-3,Lipo. Made in China. I buy for Rm19, same product, some price from Rm21 - Rm50. I buy on 17/3/2020. Receive after 7 day. This product same company with My brushless ESC no 14.
I do some investigations on this product found out,
1. Is not a waterproof ESC but sticker is thare and they mention on their product sale.
2. The waterproof sticker upside down.
3. The sticker show the changing slot for Nimh and Lipo also upside down.
4. When i tested using 2s Lipo and i change the slot for lipo, Not yet on just plug in power supply, smoke come out, faster remove it. It damage the forward IC. Now steering and reverse ok. Later need modified to my toy grade rc.
5. All the wire have no seal glue to protect water going in,
6. The two screw below cover also no seal.

Yes the product is cheap from Rm19 - Rm50. But be careful when perched product from China. If some new rc guys don't know that it waste money. Like me i just buy and have fun with it, still can function so i will be careful not playing in the water or rain. So far the best basic ESC for brush still HSP WP-1040. When buying a product from far they will advertise nicely when reach wala disappointed. Ok enjoy RC . Some thing to learn.
My No 16 brushless ESC. On 13/5/2020 some shop open after 2month +++, go to my normal shop whare they sale all the unclame parts from lazada customer. Found this ESC in box ask for price RM20 just grab it, a new ESC only without programe card. Market prices RM150++.
A 120A Sensorless Brushless ESC for 1/8 car, buggy or truck from Surpass Hobby, Higher speed lower Temperature, Waterproof. I try up without the motor ok still function. Only need to buy the motor below 3000kv. Can use 4S to 6s Lipo and 12 to 18 cells Nimh.
I will try use it in my 1/10 truck see how fast he can go.

No 17 brush ESC. Buy on 13/5/2020 just for RM2. No brand but in lazada is a mini 30A Brushead ESC for car, boat or tank. Function Forward, Reverse and Brake. Voltage 4.8 to 8.4V. Output 5.7V. Begining just buy don't now for what purpose, when checking see all the connector is for RC. Just buy it . After checking in lazada found it small and economi ESC. Same like previous day Cheap HY or HL ESC but this without casing. In lazada sale from Rm13 to 20. Go back and try with small battery first and joint to small motor, it function. Then study this product it can use 4 to 8.4v Nimh or 2S lipo. So use 7.2Nimh battery and a 540 motor it can use. No burning yet.

No 20 brush ESC secondhand no brand mosly china brand, the top crome cover is heat sheel, Rm1.30 no reverse. Check crack on mother board, i sholder the crack finaly all function. Put in my QD
No 21 secondhand brush ESC from HSP, RM1.30. Not function remove found have been repair. Resholder all function
No 22 brush ESC. Secondhand Rm3 Perfex KA15 from kyosho. After check only steering function
No 23 secondhand brush ESC, RM4.16 10/1/2021 Nilai 3. All function only bottom cover crack
On 7/3/2021 Rc parts hunting in Nilai 3 found 3 more Esc Rm6. After checking 1 faulty 2 can use.
No 24 brush ESC HL 320A. When put in power supply 7.2 smoke come out. Remove all the wire fix on other ESC.
No 25 brush ESC YOKOMO scr6712. Few wire been cut and rejoint

22/11/2021, No27 brushless ESC and second Brushless Motor, Rc hunting found another cheap Brushless motor and ESC a set, from Surpass Hobby brand. New in box and only Rm30. From Shoopee Rm180 ++ after discount = Rm80++.
2435 Sensorless motor, 4800kv +24 amp ESC. For 1/16 or 1/14. After test it function. Will fix into my WPL D12 truck recomended.
